BUNBURY residents will be able to expand their musical horizons with the opening of the new store Advanced Music on Sandridge Road.
Advanced Music owner Phil Bouwman has three stores in Perth and wants to expand the business nationally.
Store manager Jaymie Boaden said that after doing a tour of Bunbury schools they found that more music opportunities needed to be offered in the area.
"We want to change the culture of music and get everyone playing," said Ms Boaden.
Along side the opening on December 11 the business will hold a Margs Bush Fire Benefit bash at Grahem Bricknell Shell to raise money for victims of the latest Margaret River fires.
Advanced Music offers hiring, selling and repairing of instruments along with tuition for all instruments.
Ms Boaden’s passion is musical theatre and singing and says that music is a great outlet for emotions.
Along with Ms Boaden the store will have 15 local teachers to cover the diverse range of instruments.
"Our teachers will teach how they want to learn," said Ms Boaden.
Advanced Music also allows people to pay for their lessons and instrument on a weekly direct debit system.
Ms Boaden said this makes learning affordable.
While lessons won’t start until school goes back in 2012 Advanced Music will offer a holiday sessions from January 16.
"Kids can come and try out the drums, guitar and piano," said Ms Boaden.
Ms Boaden said that Advanced Music will hold lots of events in the future to help their student’s get used to performing.
"Getting them to play in front of people is a high priority for us," she said.
