MOVIE REVIEW: As a person who is usually drawn to the humour and relaxing entertainment of comedy films, Inception really threw me from my comfort zone.
And it was excellent.
It was the most intense film I’ve ever seen, and it had me sitting on the edge of my seat in anxious anticipation of what was to come.
The movie begins steadily but rapidly picks up the pace, beginning with the concept of extraction – stealing people’s secrets from their subconscious when they are in a dream like state – to inception, planting an idea in someone’s subconscious.
Main character Dom Cubb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, specialising in the extraction of secrets from people while they are unconscious.
Cubb is offered a chance to redeem his life when he is blackmailed to plant an alien idea in the mind of Robert Fischer Jr. (Cillian Murphy).
A past love that continuously sabotages their efforts, many hidden secrets, massive amounts of action and a chance to step into the surreal, Inception is truly amazing.
DiCaprio plays the starring role fantastically following his excellent performance in Shutter Island.
Ellen Page, famously known for her lead role in Juno, plays the architect of dreams Ariadne fabulously, once again displaying her solid acting skills.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt excelled in this film as Arthur, adding in some puns and high-quality action scenes.
A film that takes you far away from reality and throws you in the deep end, Inception is not one to be missed.
The incredible visual effects set this movie apart from any other.
Scenes with no gravity, many completely ‘dreamed’ worlds and special effects that will astound you – this film out does any other.
A confusing but clever mix of dreams and reality, director Christopher Nolan, who also directed The Dark Knight, bends the boundaries of reality to create a surreal and entertaining film.
This movie is an instant classic that has to be seen on the big screen.
