A rebirth of Withers

08 Feb, 2012 11:56 AM
WITHERS will be put under the microscope to see what makes the suburb “tick” according to Bunbury MLA John Castrilli.

AN $80,000 study into the suburb was announced today by the state government.

Mr Castrilli named the study the “rebirth” of Withers which will include community consultation and look at all aspects of what makes Withers “tick”.

The City of Bunbury and the South West Development Commission will work together on the four to five month study.

“It’s not everyday that an opportunity comes along to help shape the future of a suburb, and I am delighted to announce that the Commission has allocated up to $80,000 towards the project,” Commission chairman Steve Harrison said.

Mr Castrilli said the study was not just about beautifying Withers with statues and art work.

“We want to be able to look at future needs and guide planning so it builds on the strengths of Withers and the fantastic natural and recreational attributes of area,” he said.

“We are aiming to guide the direction of growth, development and improvements so Withers can become an even better and stronger community.”
