Bunbury cut off from phones for five days

03 Feb, 2012 10:24 AM
HUNDREDS of customers throughout Greater Bunbury may be without a landline phone connection for up to five days following the accidental damage of two cables late yesterday.

Two fibre optic cables on Stuart Street in Bunbury were damaged by roadworks machinery yesterday afternoon.

Telstra estimated at least 500 business and residential lines have been affected in South Bunbury and Eaton.

The telecommunications company said they hope to restore the lines as quickly as possible and apologised for any inconvenience.

Telstra advised customers to organise free-of-charge diversions to mobile devices by calling 132 999.
