GREATER Bunbury has received a large injection of funding from the State and Federal Govern-ment’s for council and community projects.
More than one million dollars has been pledged to the region since Thursday last week.
Fifteen projects across Greater Bunbury received more than $800,000 in funding thanks to the Royalties for Regions program.
The inaugural recipients of the program were named on Monday by regional development minister Brendon Grylls.
$3.5 million in funding was shared across the South West.
South West Develop-ment Commission chief executive Don Punch welcomed the announcement, saying the injection of funds would provide a welcome boost to the region.
“I am delighted with the response to the grants scheme and pleased the funding will aid so many diverse and exciting projects,” he said.
The South West Regional Grants Scheme was designed to fund projects that help attract investment, increase jobs or improve the quality of life in regional WA.
“One recipient of this funding round is the Val Lishman Health Research Foundation which received $147,198 for medical research that has great potential to significantly improve health in the South West,” Mr Punch said.
“I look forward to seeing all the projects take shape over the coming months.”
The other major project to receive funding was the Brunswick CBD underground power project which received $283,727.
Greater Bunbury will also benefit from almost half a million dollars in Federal Government funding announced on Thursday.
The money was part of the government’s $220 million investment in community infrastructure.
