BUNBURY will receive an economic bonanza when two huge cruise ships arrive in the city on the same week next month.
Nearly 4000 people will descend on the city in two days when the Sun Princess and Rhapsody of the Seas berth on November 3 and 4.
An estimated $400,000 will be injected into the local economy as a result of the visits.
The Rhapsody of the Seas carries about 2000 passengers and measures 915 feet in length, weighing more than 78,000 tonne.
The Sun Princess carries about 1950 passengers, measures 261 metres in length and weighs more than 70,000 tonne.
The ships are the first in a big season of cruise ships for the city.
The Bunbury Cruise Ship Committee has made some improvements after the past season to ensure visitors are well catered for.
A free shuttle bus service will ferry visitors from the wharf into the city dropping them off at the Bunbury Visitor Centre.
Previously visitors had the option of either walking into town or paying $10 one way for a bus ride into town.
Committee chairman Jon Birch said they were focused on making the trip into town easier for passengers.
"We’ll be dropping them off at the city’s front door as opposed to just dumping them at the wharf," he said.
"Hopefully it will be much more welcoming for them."
A map specifically designed for cruise ship passengers will be handed out to passengers showing them where they can find services such as banks, internet and newsagencies.
All ships will berth in Bunbury on a week day when all shops and services will be available to them.
Mr Birch said about 1000 people per ship would enter the city.
"One comment I like was that it’s like Christmas when the passengers are in town," he said.
Other ships heading to Bunbury are the Dawn Princess, The World, Athena, Pacific Sun and Amadea.
