Further Waterfront delays

03 Feb, 2010 12:06 PM
BUNBURY’S Water-front Eastside precinct development is no sooner to becoming a reality with plans being held up by the Western Australia Planning Commission.

In order for the development application to go ahead the State Government must first amend the Greater Bunbury Regional Scheme which means the whole process will take longer than the City hoped.

Bunbury Mayor David Smith said WAPC would be calling for public submissions to be made in regard to the amendments.

"It is important for the public to familiarise themselves with the amendments and put in their submissions," he said.

"While council will be in the position to make a submission we will not be the final decision makers."

Mayor Smith said he was unsure of what the three amendments were and council was obliged to align the town planning scheme with the Greater Bunbury Regional Scheme.
