A BUNBURY business has opened its heart to an Australind teenager suffering from a terminal muscle disease.
Overflow Industries has presented Domenic Bianchi, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, with a cheque for $8000.
The money will be used to purchase a cough assist machine for Domenic, whose muscles are too weak for him to cough on his own.
The degenerative nature of the disease brings muscle wasting, respiratory insufficiency.
Domenic’s mum Pam, who is pushing for improved support for people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, welcomed the donation by Overflow Industries.
“It means the world to us that someone has taken time out to donate,” she said.
“It came as a great surprise when they offered to do it. We just really appreciate being backed by somebody local.”
Overflow Industries director Michael Golden said they had heard about Domenic’s plight and had immediately wanted to help.
“We thought it was a worthy cause to contribute to,” he said.
