Shower of gold for taekwondo champions

TAEKWONDO: Eaton’s Blair Wootton has become Taekwondo Centrals 50th champion at the recent Taekwondo championships held in Adelaide.

In a tough competition the 17 year old ended the first round down but took over the match and held out to win by one point.

The more experienced members then showed the way with previous gold winners Les Davies and Ashley Howlett adding another to their tally.

Mother Lorelle Klumpp earned a gold medal at the championships making it her third in total.

The team earned seven gold medals on the day with Burekup girls Katy Jones and Ajana Plunkett coming in at first place and a strong patterns win by Elise Wilson in the over 50s.

Instructor Justin Warren was pleased with the team’s results.

"We are very proud of our team," he said

"They really stepped up and focused on the task at hand.

The seven gold medals bring the clubs total to 54 Australian champions since the beginning in 1999.

Silver Branded Madaffari, Chloe Delport, Ashley Howlett, Les Davies

Bronze - Jasmine Klumpp, Jack Davies, Ross Delport
