TAEKWONDO: A great result from Taekwondo Centrals Competition Team last weekend at the State Championships saw 13 gold medals taken home.
The surge was led by 2006 Club Champion Ross Delport who won three gold medals, earning himself a secure spot in the State Team to contest the Australian Championships held in Sydney during September.
Delport dominated all his divisions including a score of 86 on his poomsae to be one of the day’s highest scorers.
He was one of the many Taekwondo all rounders appearing and performing from the local club.
Ever improving Australind junior Liam Heidt also had an outstanding weekend, winning the belt group-up in sparring.
Heidt used great tactics to defeat his more experienced opponents and take out gold.
Other great performers were Ashley Howlett who won two gold and two silver medal, Liam Heidt, two gold, and Ajana Plunkett who won her two Sparring and Creative Poomsae divisions.
Other gold medals were won by Jake Klumpp, who also won two silver, Tanya Howlett, Lorelle Klumpp and Chloe Delport.
Roberta Worral won two silver medals and Jasmine Klumpp and Anthony Shaw also took out silver. Blair Wooton and Ajana Plunkett each won bronze medals.
