Two day veteran motorbike rally

Superbly restored machinery and a legend of the sport will feature highly this weekend when the Indian Harley Club of Bunbury hosts the 35th running of its prestigious Two Day Rally.

The club’s major event of the year promises plenty of opportunity for people to view more than 100 classic machines and mingle with their riders.

There will be veteran and vintage British, American, European and Japanese Motorcycles and many sidecar outfits taking part.

The motorcycle enthusiasts are proud former world speedway motorbike champion Peter Collins will be its guest of honour.

More than 100 local riders will be joined by about 60 others from WA and interstate.

Glen Britzar has been on many rallys and said newcomers like Hamish Cowan had much to look forward to.

“He’s going to meet many people and see plenty of old motorbikes,” Britzar said.

Bikes will be on display on Saturday from 9am to 10am at the Shrubland Park Motocross Track near the Bunbury airport before they hit the track.

The bikes will be back on display from 8.30am the next day and depart at 9am on a shorter course before trophy presentation at 12noon.

The club was formed in 1971 by a group of enthusiasts who had a keen interest in restoring and preserving motorcycles aged 25 years and older.
