 Donovan dominates win

Donovan dominates win

01 Jul, 2009 11:28 AM
NETBALL: Lizzie Donovan in goal defence exploded with an intercept off the very first centre pass against West Coast Falcons to give the Griffin Souwest Jets the first goal of their round 9 match.

Coach Willsher has been amazed at the way Lizzie has been playing this year and Willsher has said “thank heavens we have Lizzie Donovan”.

The Souwest Jets intensity during the first quarter was up and down as it was for the whole game.

Zoe Alberti in goal attack had another strong game and Bianco Romagnolo in centre and Kylie Glancy in wing attack moved the ball quickly without forcing it into the goal circle.

This gave Zoe and goal shooter Jo Dimer the opportunity to combine well and move into great positions for the best chance of scoring.

Zoe was our main scorer, with her shooting percentage in the high seventies.

To give credit to the second bottom of the ladder West Coast Falcons they took it right up to the Souwest Jets and made it difficult for the Souwest Jets to get into any rhythm.

In the last quarter Kellie Trott in goal defence and Lizzie Donovan back at goal keeper helped the Griffin Souwest Jets to a two goal win 43 to 41 with some timely intercepts.

The Souwest Jets need to get back the fight and determination they had in the first half of their season if they want to win tonight against fifth place Coastal Sharks.
