Central effort pays off

MARTIAL ARTS: Taekwondo Central put in a strong performance at the recent Taekwondo State Championships at the Oasis Recreation Centre in Belmont.

The team of 17 won 11 gold medals, 5 silver and 5 bronze.

The best performances were from Jed Stubbs and Rebecca Smith, who both earned a gold and silver each.

Morgan Brown, Kara Stubbs, Julie McDonnell and Wade Bragg each returned with a gold and a silver.

The team has consistently been one of the top performing tournament teams in the State, with the results reflecting the amount of effort put into training.

All 61 members who were tested on the weekend passed their grading and were promoted to their next belt.

Results: Gold: Jed Stubbs, Rebecca Smith, Brendan O'Connor, Lauren Belant, Kara Stubbs, Wade Bragg, Amy Fortescue, Kodie Kenyon, Peter Jenkins, Julie McDonnell, Morgan Brown.

Silver: Shanelle Schramm, Nathan Willis, Kevin O'Connor, Jed Stubbs, Rebecca Smith.

Bronze: Michelle Patane-Dillon, Morgan Brown, Kara Stubbs, Julie McDonnell, Wade Bragg.
