South Bunbury with big upset

South Bunbury v Colts: South Bunbury provided the first major upset of the season in defeating last years grand finalists, Colts.

Peter Gaspar led the way for the Buffaloes claiming early wickets to have Colts in trouble at 3/21.

Mike Norris and Stuart Boyle settled to batting with a 60 run partnership before Norris fell to Mick Harris for 47.

Boyle proceeded to up the scoring rate with some big overs, however wickets continued to fall around him before he was last man out for 85 with the score on 191.

Gaspar and Harris did the damage for South Bunbury as they finished with 4/20 and 4/40 respectively.

South Bunbury got off to a great start thanks to Chris Sjoberg who dominated an 82 run opening partnership with Ben Cross who made 28.

Another solid partnership with Jono Whitney ensued before Sjoberg was caught behind for 70.

Whitney then guided the Buffaloes home by 7 wickets with 74 not out.

Marist v Collie: The two unbeaten teams locked horns in a big test for the newcomers.

Marist batted first and were once again well served by Luke McCormick (35) and skipper Glen Dehring (41).

A middle order stumble saw Marist go from 2/87 to 7/117 will all five of these wickets going to Jayden and Rhett Williamson.

A 56 run eighth wicket partnership between Paul Tomasi (26) and Chris Waddingham (27) extended to Marist total to 9/191.

Jayden Williamson claimed 3/26 and Paul Bebbington finished with 3/45.

Greg Tomasini provided the backbone of the Collie innings in making 46 however only Todd Snelgar and Bebbington (both 21) provided any major support as Collie fell 21 runs short at 9/170.

Joe Barningham continued his excellent start to the season to claim 3/34 and was well supported by Steve McGee (3/19).

Harvey-Benger v Dalyellup: Harvey-Benger and Dalyellup were both out to claim their second win of the season to get an early spot in the top four.

Dalyellup batted first and got off to a great start with a 77 run opening stand between Tony Dau (41) and Liam Duffield (28).

Scott Fowler (3/22) and Rob Marshall (3/30) then claimed the Dalyellup middle order as the Settlers were dismissed for 164.

A couple of early wickets gave Dalyellup some hope but a 70 run partnership between Fowler (42) and Haydn Jones (29) saw Harvey-Benger back on track. Richard Fimmano then saw Harvey-Benger home in the last over with 36 not out.

Dardanup v Eaton: Tim Cooper and Justin Woods laid the foundation of Dardanup’s 49 run victory over Eaton.

Cooper and Woods put on 66 before Cooper was dismissed for 52.

Woods continued on to make 55 as Dardanup made 7/204.

James Hillary and Brodie Swayne each claimed two wickets for Eaton.

In reply, a number of Eaton batsmen got into the twenties, led by Hillary with 28, however it was not enough as Eaton were restricted to 9/155.

Alex Devitt was again a shining light for the Bushrangers in claiming 3/18.
