FOUR young Bunbury athletes will have the opportunity to show off their skills at the Tri Nation Athletics Track and Field Championships in Singapore.
Tia Combes, Chelsea Kelly, Mitchell Horner and Brooke Rogers are among 67 other athletes in the WA team for the under 14 and 15 age groups.
The athletes were able to win a spot on the team after achieving medals at the McDonald’s state track and field championships in March.
The overseas event will be a first for young Mitchell Horner who said this was his first year of athletics.
Horner received a bronze medal in the triple jump at the state championships and said he was also selected on the medals he won at the country championships in Bunbury.
Horner said he was looking forward to meeting new people in Singapore as well competing in a sport he loved.
“I love the way that you get fit physically and mentally,” he said.
While Horner had a minor set back with straining a ligament in his hip he hopes to start training again this week.
