After several years of being absent from state competition, Bunbury entered an under 13 junior team at the recent Higgs Trophy event in Perth and came away with a silver medal.
Team competitors Louise Bradford, Joshua Koomson and Esther Koomson were able to win all but one match against an all boys metropolitan side in an excellent debut.
Bunbury Junior Coach Julien Bradford was thrilled with the performance of his charges after a couple of years of rebuilding junior badminton in Bunbury and said he was looking forward to sending more teams across wider age groups in the years to come.
Individual events were also held after the two day team events with Bunbury Juniors making their mark in the State Junior Championships.
Esther Koomson took out the winners trophy in the under 13 girls event with Breanna Bail runner up.
Joshua Koomson came in third place for the under 13 boys against tough competition.
Having just turned 12, Louise Bradford sacrificed her option to play under 13 girls and took out a courageous third place in the under 15 girls section, only losing to two of the current 14 year old state junior players.
Louise also picked up the winners trophy in the under 13 mixed doubles event and came runner up in the girls doubles event thus enhancing her prospects of representing WA in 2013.
Joshua and Esther combined to place runner up in the mixed doubles. Madison Bail and Muka Sudaphan also played admirably in their respective events.
