The City of Bunbury became more internet savvy last week by creating its own Twitter account.
You can now ‘follow’ the City of Bunbury to receive up-to-date and live updates about the city you live in.
Media and Communications officer Kate Bartels said the City of Bunbury decided to venture onto Twitter after the success of its Facebook page.
“A couple of months ago, the City decided it was time to get more involved with the community online. So, Facebook and Twitter will hopefully become the basis for that,” Mrs Bartels said.
“There is nothing worse than your Facebook feed being clogged with posts you’re not always interested in, where as with Twitter, it is almost expected to be inundated with information you choose to receive.”
At this stage the City’s Twitter account has been a little quiet but it is promised that will change.
“The City hopes the community will see both Facebook and Twitter as a good means of communication and way to keep up to date with what is happening in their city,” Mrs Mrs Bartels said.
“Often, there is a lot going on with big projects and new initiatives that not many people are aware of and the City hopes to change that and this is one way of doing it.”
