RESIDENTS at Bethanie Esprit Village in Eaton no longer need to live in fear after guard rails and a median strip were installed on Edith Cowan Drive.
The Bunbury Mail ran a story in March about how residents feared for their lives as drivers used the road for hoon activities.
Dardanup council accepted a petition from the residents and have now modified the road.
Eighty-six-year-old resident Joan Spencer who had cars crash into her back wall three times in two years said she now feels a lot safer.
“The median strip and guard rails are excellent and it has lessened the opportunities for crashes,” Mrs Spencer said.
“Since the new safety measures were installed we have noticed the speeds of drivers drop significantly on what was a hoon hot spot to order.”
Dardanup shire president Mick Bennett said council was pleased the situation had been remedied and thanked the residents for their patience.
“It is fantastic to have the residents’ support and appreciation as sometimes our hard work goes unnoticed so we thank them for that,” Cr Bennett said.
