GEOGRAPHE Bay’s ladies team have booked a place in the South West cup final in September with a convincing 5-1 win over Bunbury Dynamos.
It was an outstanding team performance, especially from the team’s defence which blocked all attacks that came their way, and a great individual performance from Dana Avery who scored four goals on the day.
It was full power from the first whistle, and it only took 10 minutes for the Seasiders to get their first, when Avery scored a well-taken goal, and it was not long before she added a second.
Before halftime, it was rounded off by a goal from Elisha Saltarini to put the Seasiders comfortably up 3-0 at the break.
Coach John McFadyen was pleased with his charges at the break, and asked for much of the same in the second half.
Dynamos hit back just after the break, scoring a goal, but this only spurred on the Seasiders.
Avery scored again to restore Geographe’s three goal cushion, but they were not finished and continued to push forward.
They scored once again, with the Seasiders running out convincing 5-1 winners.
Busselton Toyota’s players of the day were ‘sweet 16’ Brooke Fields, who was outstanding in the backline, plus Chloe Marlow and Dana Avery.
Unfortunately for Geographe, they have lost their goalkeeper Rosemary Purdie for the remainder of the season, who sustained a punctured lung during the last 10 minutes of the game.
Everyone at Geographe Bay Football Club wishes her a speedy recovery.
