AN education program teaching South West students about clean energy has been given a funding boost by the state government.
The CSIRO’s Carbon Kids program received more than $200,000 from the Department of Mines and Petroleum over the next two years.
As part of the funding, the CSIRO will design and build carbon capture and storage models for use in Carbon Kids climate science workshops.
Mines and Petroleum minister Bill Marmion said 26 schools across the South West are already part of the program.
“The program incorporates a strong clean energy focus,” Mr Marmion said.
“This enables teachers, students and the community to increase their knowledge and understanding of alternative energy technologies.
“By demonstrating local activity such as the South West Hub project we can highlight home-grown examples of clean energy science and how it is being applied.”
