A NATIONAL report released last week unveiled alarming figures which named the South West as one of the fattest regions in Australia.
More than 70 per cent of South West adults were classified as overweight or obese, with an estimate of 158,000 people falling into these categories.
This result has serious implications for the health of individuals but also ongoing costs to the wider community and pressure on health services.
It seems that no matter how many boot camps, fun runs and new gyms surface, as a region we cannot maintain a healthy weight.
Bunbury residents are blessed to have access to running tracks, cycle paths and a glorious coastline for cost-free exercise and while it seems there is always a healthy number of people taking advantage of this, some obviously are not.
Why do you think our region is getting fatter? What prevents you from maintaining a healthy weight?
