I’m writing to give my opinion on the coverage given by media outlets to the local government elections held recently.
I had read the stories leading up to the election of the Mayor with a small amount of interest but the live blog on the night of the vote counting was addictive.
I normally like to be out and about on a Saturday night but that weekend I found myself stuck at home.
My Faceboook and Twitter kept updating and after reading a few of the posts I was hooked.
Every few minutes there was updated numbers, pictures and discussion comments and I found myself refreshing more times than I would have expected.
As the voting got closer between three candidates I almost felt like I was watching a live sporting event.
It is great to be able to get news from the Bunbury area on the weekends and I really enjoy keeping up with what is happening in my City more than just once a week when the paper is dropped on my front lawn.
One of the first things I do when I get to work is log onto my social media to see what has happened overnight.
It is so much fun to feel like I’m involved in the news.
