IT WAS a rare sight for Bunbury residents when a jet plane shot across the sky last Thursday afternoon.
The plane did not originate from the Bunbury Airport but left a long white trail.
Concerned residents contacted the Bunbury Mail to ask if the trail left behind was a poisonous chemical known as ‘chemtails’.
The City of Bunbury has confirmed the trail was in fact a condensation trail.
“Contrails are very common in Europe but less common in Australia due to our higher air temperatures and humidity,” the spokesman said.
“Although contrails can be formed by propeller powered aircraft, they are more commonly formed by jet powered aircraft.”
