Re: Time to stop Bunbury bashing and get involved in the positive movement.
Inter-city insults are a long-standing human tradition.
Ever heard someone from Bunbury take the mickey out of Collie?
Sydney and Melbourne. Auckland and Wellington. Everywhere and Adelaide.
I agree that positive change needs to come from within the community, however if we let ourselves get defensive about insults from what you call “outsiders” we just become more of a joke.
Bunbury is a great place, and is always getting better.
Getting involved in the community in an attempt to try and stop people calling us “bogan capital” is the wrong reason to get involved in the community.
It won't stop and if it does there will just be a new joke to take its place for us to get wound up and self-conscious about.
That's just the way it is, always has been, always will be – all over the world.
Getting involved because we care about where we live and want to improve our city for our own sake is what is needed.
