AFTER fifteen years of delays and false starts, the Kingston Drive extension was finally opened on Thursday.
Residents joined councillors and representatives from developer Lester Group as Harvey Shire president Tania Jackson cut the ribbon and became the first motorist to pull into the long awaited road.
“It is fabulous that the partners have come together smoothly and it is really significant to the area,” Ms Jackson said.
“We needed to expand.
“The demand is so great and seeing the link certainly adds to the amenity of the area as well as providing greater access and safety.”
Development manager Stuart Lester said the development was a huge milestone and would make access much easier for residents.
Ms Jackson said the Bunbury Catholic College branching out to a second campus on the road was the catalyst to finally push the long-awaited project through.
Bunbury Catholic College principal Denise O’Meara said the school would open in 2015 with about 300 students, expanding to about 1000 in years following.
