Bunbury blokes rock their frocks

IF you were out and about on Saturday night and got the shock of seeing nine men running around in wedding dresses, rest assured they were raising money for cancer.

The men pranced through the main streets and local pubs of Bunbury and raised $1900 for Relay for Life with the help of team Money-Makers.

Team captain Lara Hebbend said the men had heaps of fun showing leg, stopping traffic and getting donations from unsuspecting patrons.

“I was surprised at the generosity of the public,” Mrs Hebbend said.

“Several people donated large notes saying they or close family members had been recently diagnosed with cancer which just reinforced how important what we were doing was.”

The idea came about when Mrs Hebbend set to auction off a date with the lead singer of Skeleton Jump at the recent Masquerade Wedding Dress Ball.

When he failed to raise the amount hoped, Evan Robinson set on a new mission to raise money and “rocked his frock” last weekend.

“Evan lost his sister last year to Cancer so he would do anything to support this cause,” Mrs Hebbend said.
