Bollywood spectacular hits Bunbury

THE city was awash with the vibrant culture and colours of India when the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre hosted Bollywood 2012 last Sunday.

Organised by the Bunbury Multicultural group and South West Indian Group and attracting more than 700 residents, Bollywood 2012 was a free community event celebrating cultural diversity in the South West.

The day featured an afternoon of Indian food, fashion, spices and henna painting, followed by a gala performance in which both local dance groups and professional Perth based dance troupe PERthDESI performed dazzling Bollywood dancing.

The local amateur dance groups included Beledi Dance Troupe, Azzuradance, Top Jazz Ballet, Bollywood Blast, BellyVision and Cooinda Bollywood Dance Group.

PERthDESI’s finale was a half-hour performance which told the story of childhood friends whose friendship is transformed into something more special.

Bunbury Multicultural Group Sabrina Haines said the event was a brilliant partnership between Bunbury Entertainment Centre and Bunbury Multicultural Group and an opportunity to promote Indian culture and language in the Bunbury community.

The performances from Bollywood 2012 have been professionally recorded and are available for purchase from the Box Office for $20.
