BUNBURY’S Stirling Street Arts Centre is calling on young artists to display their creative talent for a portrait competition in May.
Young artists can paint, draw or sketch a portrait of someone who plays a significant role in their lives for the chance to win an iPod and a $100 gift voucher for each age group.
Stirling Streets Arts Centre workshop coordinator Leigh Shinde said the competition was a good opportunity for kids to display their artwork in public.
“The main point behind it is to provide young artists an avenue to showcase their talent and receive praise,” Ms Shinde said.
She said there were a range of award systems for sport in Bunbury but not many for creative expression.
The competition is partly funded by the City of Bunbury Community Grants Funding.
Ms Shinde said the centre hoped to run the competition annually.
