THE wait is almost over for Dalyellup residents with construction starting on a new $30 million Woolworths.
Shire of Capel president Murray Scott and Member for Collie-Preston Mick Murray will be joined by members of the Woolworths construction team to mark the start of the project on Thursday.
Woolworths regional development manager Damon Dimitrijevic said the company had worked closely with the shire to deliver a fantastic shopping destination for the region.
“The new neighbourhood centre will include a modern 4,200 sq m Woolworths Supermarket, 22 specialty retailers and more than 300 car parks providing exceptional choice for local customers,” Mr Dimitrijevic said.
The development will create more than 380 local jobs including over 200 direct and indirect construction jobs and more than 180 full-time, part-time or casual local retail job opportunities.
Director of NTY Commercial Kym Thomason said he expected strong demand from both local and national tenants.
“We have commenced an expression of interest process and the level of interest in the centre has confirmed our excitement around the project,” Mr Thomason said.
The new Dalyellup neighbourhood centre is expected to open in mid-2015.
