TV anchorman Brian Williams is one of the elder statesmen of US nightly news and widely celebrated for his coverage of events such as Hurricane Katrina, the Iraq war and the death of Osama Bin Laden.
He's also a master at turning his hand to rap classics, according to a continuing campaign by TV host and comedian Jimmy Fallon, who aired an expertly edited clip of Williams rapping Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice on his show on Monday night.
The mash-up, which features the distinguished newscaster throwing out lines such as, "Two in the mornin' and the party's still jumpin', 'cause my momma ain't home" is the seventh outing put together by Fallon's team on The Tonight Show.
It began in February, with a clip of Williams doing the Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight, which has got more than 9 million hits, and since then other tracks such as Warren G's Regulate and Dr Dre's Nuthin But a G Thang have followed.
Williams, appearing on Fallon's show on Monday, jokingly told Fallon he feared people thought he had actually collaborated on the videos. "Let's be clear," he said. "I've never said hippity."
