Justin Bieber has been released after being detained for hours at Los Angeles airport today.
It is the latest in a string of troubles for the singer.
He had just returned from Japan where he sparked worldwide anger for posting a photo of a war shrine and thanking people for their "blessings".
TMZ reported that the 20-year-old was being held by customs in relation to his various run-ins with the law.
Among mounting lawsuits are Bieber's arrest for DUI in January. He is also being sued for assault and for allegedly egging his neighbours house and causing an estimated $US20,000 (around $21,500) in damage to the mansion's exterior.
Add to this accusations of drug use, disrespect in the court of law and apparent confusion about where he's been in the world (namely forgetting he has ever been to Australia) he is also said to be the reason behind rifts between on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez and her best friends.
This latest detention by police comes after his private plane was searched earlier this year for apparently smelling of cannabis.
