TWENTY-EIGHT music students from Bunbury Catholic College have returned from a successful tour of Hong Kong to play at the International Youth Music Festival.
The jazz guitar ensemble received a gold award which the concert choir received a silver award.
The tour also saw students visit the Big Buddha and immerse themselves in the Budd-hist faith, food and culture.
Following Hong Kong the students travelled to Beijing and performed at a university before visiting the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China.
Student Bernard Jack said the event was a great opportunity to perform oon the world stage against schools from across the globe.
“We had rehearsed for so long and put in so much work that it was incredibly rewarding to have the judges make such positive comments on our jazz guitar ensemble,” Bernard said.
Director of Music Melissa Mitchell said the school extended a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the tour happen.
