A Bunbury mother sent to jail for the manslaughter of her son's love rival has been released from jail on parole.
Last May, Tanya Louise Smith was sentenced to four years jail for the manslaughter of 23-year-old Jarrad Fitzpatrick, who died after being stabbed on November 28, 2009.
Smith's son, 21-year-old Kenneth John Smith, was found guilty of murdering Mr Fitzpatrick, with her husband, Colin John Smith, also found guilty of manslaughter.
Mr Fitzpatrick, who was killed on the driveway of Kenneth Smith's ex-girlfriend's Glen Iris home, was described as an "innocent bystander".
At Smith's trial, the court heard she helped her son destroy and conceal evidence of the crime, and sat in the car watching as Mr Fitzpatrick was stabbed whilst yelling abuse at her son's former partner.
Smith's sentence was backdated to August 2010, meaning she was granted parole at the earliest opportunity.
The parole board found Smith "would not present an unacceptable risk to the safety of the community" after participating in a prison development programme and limited prior criminal history.
During the parole period, Smith must have no contact with Mr Fitzpatrick's family.
