LETTER: "It's not a doggy poop bank" - College Grove family fed up

I am assuming you are the same irresponsible pet owner that continues to do this, as the large deposit is always in the same place. 

Sadly, our home is not a doggy poop bank, we already have two large dogs of our own – we have more than enough "deposits" already to clean up. 

But in all seriousness, please consider what your actions do to others. 

It puts me and my husband in a cranky mood (it is winter and morning and the two don't mix as it is). 

It makes our three young children upset that there is dog poo in the front yard (yes, please observe the fact our front yard is a "fairy garden" which our children have helped construct, so you know that dog poo really isn't what a kid wants in their fairy garden).

The back yard they obviously expect it as we have dogs, but the front yard is for them to run around and not worry about stepping in dog poo. 

Then there is the point of hygiene. If your dog is not fully vaccinated, another dog (say a young puppy going out for a walk) could catch the deadly Parvo virus from your dog's poo left there. 

There is also the fact that it's school holidays - the foot path is always alive with young children on bikes, skate boards and scooters, mum's with prams - is it really fair on all those who also use the foot path to be greeted with your dog poo? 

Is it fair that I have to go clean up after some irresponsible adult? 

I have more than enough cleaning up to do - with three young children, two large dogs and cats. 

If you are going to walk your dog out, please, please think of others. It takes two seconds to just pick it up with a baggy (provided free by the council at the end of the street at Manea Park) and place in the bin. 

There are a lot of good responsible pet owners out there – please don't ruin it for the rest of us. Pick it up in future. Thank you.
