WELL-KNOWN Bunbury man Ray Buck knows his way around a motorbike after 35 years in business and many more years of involvement in the city’s motorbike community.
The life member of the Bunbury Motorcycle Club has restored about 20 bikes over the years, some for himself and some to help other people out.
Mr Buck had got his hands on a Peugeot moped made in France – one of only four that had ever come to Australia.
After spending the last three months restoring the moped, he and his wife Anne came home from the Western Derby on June 28 to find thieves had broken into their shed.
The moped’s motor had been stolen along with a rare Mick Doohan helmet and a Honda Express bike.
Mr Buck said it was a senseless crime because the motor was completely useless on its own.
“It’s useless to sell, no one will be able to use it – they will probably just end up dumping it,” he said.
Mr and Mrs Buck owned Ray Buck Kawasaki on Forrest Avenue for 35 years and are also valued members of the Bunbury Indian Harley Club.
