THE Bunbury Respect Inc. committee is on the look-out for new volunteers to support its work in the community or bolster brainpower at committee meetings.
The committee has been operating in Bunbury for more than five years and became incorporated last year to focus on helping local organisations, sporting clubs, agencies, schools and businesses adopt Choose Respect.
Newly recruited volunteer Dyanna Sawyer is the latest Choose Respect supporter to join the committee.
She said she was keen to give back to her community in some way and saw Bunbury Respect Inc. as a tangible way to use her skills, passion and knowledge.
Mrs Sawyer’s children, aged seven and five, won a Choose Respect award earlier this year for using their own initiative to pick up rubbish around the Bunbury Wildlife Park on a regular basis.
“Having two young children I firmly believe that we need to consciously teach them to be respectful to others and think about how their actions can impact on others and the environment,” she said.
“I’d also like to encourage other people in our community who have a few hours to spare to get behind this cause and work towards an even brighter future for Bunbury.”
In March of this year more than 700 people attended the Rally 4 Respect to show their support for creating a more considerate and respectful community.
“Those people who want to be a part of practical ways in which our community can increase tolerance and understanding should contact us to see how they can get involved,” chairman Peter Rigden said.
