Tackles were made and tries were scored as round eight of the South West Junior Rugby Union competition was hosted by the Bunbury Barbarians in Australind.
Each week the players in the under six, seven, eight and nine age groups build on the skills learnt in previous games.
Barbarians junior president Kim Doyle said the sport is popular among juniors in the South West.
“These age groups are where the strength and depth in player skills and team numbers are most apparent,” she said.
“This places the local South West competition in a very strong position for future seasons.
“It is also in these younger age groups where you see the pure enjoyment on the faces of the players who go out with one focus – to have fun playing the game of rugby with their team mates.”
Round nine this weekend sees the competition move to Bunbury City Bulls at Hay Park with games starting at midday.
