ATHLETICS: Four Bunbury students will be looking to run the hills faster than ever when they compete at the National Cross Country Championships next month.
Bailey Taylor, 14, Jak Watson, 13, Zach Rankin, 13 and Courtney Butlion, 12 have all been selected to race at the event in Albany – the first time Western Australia has hosted the event.
“The best thing about cross country running is it keeps you fit and it is good fun to compete with your friends,” Zac said.
“We train at different times in the mornings and afternoons and are always looking to beat our personal bests,” Bailey said.
The students are part of the Kids Going For Gold program and will race over five days against more than 800 students in the relay and individual events.
“The races can be a real challenge but we just try to do our best,” Courtney said.
Stay tuned to the Bunbury Mail in August to find out how the four runners go.
