THE newly-expanded Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre is forging ahead with a plan to break away from the traditional perception that “going to the theatre” is only for a certain crowd.
The centre will follow up last month’s Out of the Box + Into the Cube launch party with a pop-up lounge bar in August.
It will be held in conjuction with the sold-out Comedy Gold - The Best of Adelaide Fringe show, featuring DJs, arcade games, jam-jar cocktails and pizza.
Out of the Box + Into the Cube is the entertainment centre’s newest program for the X and Y generations.
The program aims to put the centre back on the map for young people, providing an alternative night out with unique performances and a relaxed social environment.
“Out of the Box + Into the Cube is about building a new audience and repositioning the way we are seen,” centre general manager Joel McGuinness said.
“We want to become another entertainment option for young people and break down the stigma that ‘going to the theatre’ is only for a certain crowd.”
Out of the Box + Into the Cube events will be held monthly in conjuction with other shows being held at the centre.
Entry is $10 which includes a $5 drink token and popcorn. Entry is free for Comedy Gold ticket holders.
Tickets can be pre-purchased at bunburyentertainment.com or at the BREC Box Office.
Limited tickets will be available at the door.
