WALKING into Sharon Williams’ kitchen is a test in resisting temptation.
Laid out on her bench is an array of small cakes fresh off the production line.
But Mrs Williams isn’t saving this batch for her friends and family, the Gelorup Mama Toffee owner will deliver them to a lucky client.
The ex-midwife started the business six months after realising her love for baking and desire to start a small business.
Since then she has taking orders for corporate functions, morning teas and parties throughout Greater Bunbury.
She originally focussed on cafes and a local coffee van but decided to sell directly to clients.
“There was nothing else like it in Bunbury – I went to a lot of the local cafes [and found] they were buying in cakes and slices,” Mrs Williams said.
“I wanted to provide different options and make beautiful homemade cakes with good quality ingredients.”
She also specialises in gluten free and fitness-orientated baked goods such as protein balls.
“There are a lot of people looking for alternatives – I can make cakes to anyone’s needs.”
The business’s name came about in honour of Mrs Williams’ late father, who used it as a nickname for her mother.
She has big plans for the business.
“This for me is a stepping stone – I would like to open my shop one day selling my cakes and home wares, right now I’m working toward that.”
