THEATRE: It will be a family affair at the Bunbury Musical Comedy Group’s upcoming performance of Snow Queen.
The mother-daughter team of Jenean, Morgan and Aili Halket will show that stage talent runs in the family, working together to bring the production to life.
Jenean did her first shows with the group - My Fair Lady and West Side Story - before her children were born.
Morgan, 16, debuted in the orchestra pit last year playing cello for the group’s The Sound of Music, while her mother Jeanean played the mother role of Abbess.
This year, Morgan is joining fellow musicians in the pit as a violinist.
Although not appearing in this show, her twin brother Hamish played Frederich, the oldest Von Trapp boy in the same show and the year before made his debut as Henry in Next to Normal.
And finally, 15-year-old Aili will take the stage for the first time with the Bunbury Musical Comedy Group, although she has appeared on stage with numerous other companies.
She will have fun as half of a charming singing, dancing crow duo.
“Our family are a bunch of creatives,” Jenean said.
“Give us a stage, some lights and an audience we'll be there making music and fun.
“This is something so precious for me to share with my children – it's very special having teenagers who love doing the same thing as their mum.”
She said while dad Keith doesn't venture onto the stage, “it's always great to have an appreciative audience and he's very happy in that role”.
The Snow Queen opens with a matinee on Saturday, August 23 and matinees on August 24, 30 and 31 with an evening performance on Friday, August 29.
