LOCAL artists have been hard at work getting together a huge collection of their pieces ready to participate in Bunbury Catholic College’s Art Extraordinaire this weekend.
The 34th annual exhibition features a display of 300 pieces of artwork, ceramics, woodwork and textiles from artists in the South West and across Australia.
Over the years the exhibition has won wide spread recognition and has been responsible for an increased awareness of visual arts in the Bunbury community.
The display kicks off with an auction and official opening on Friday night from 7pm with an address from special guest artist Bec Juniper.
Ms Juniper’s work is influenced by her late father Robert who taught her to look at the landscape from an aerial perspective.
His work is featured in windows and tapestry in Bunbury’s new St Patrick’s Cathedral.
The exhibition will be held in the Bunbury Catholic College hall across the weekend.
Tickets to the Friday opening and auction are $25 and include beer, wine, soft drinks and finger food.
Entry to the exhibition on the weekend is $5 for adults and $3 for pensioners and children with tickets available at the door.
