A GREAT idea can come out of any town – and a great global idea can influence any town.
That is the ethos behind TEDxBunbury, a forum designed to spark conversation and connections which could ultimately improve the city.
The inaugural event will feature a line-up of speakers on topics ranging from education to health and the arts, based around the theme ‘Anytown’.
Originating in California, TED is a global set of conferences which operate under the slogan “ideas worth spreading.”
TEDx supports independent organisers who want to bring the initiative to their own city or town.
“You don’t have to be a big capital city to bring global ideas to life and you offer something back to the world,” TEDxBunbury founder and organiser Susie Delaporte said.
“Bunbury is full of clever people with clever ideas doing really clever things – just like any town.
“These ideas are worth sharing.”
TEDxBunbury will be held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre in The Cube theatre on Saturday, October 4.
Speakers will include South West MLC Dr Sally Talbot, Bunbury artist Andrew Frazer, award-winning teacher Fiona Farren and plenty of others.
