POPULATION growth, affordability of small terrace lots and the development of a district centre all make Dalyellup an attractive place to live.
This is the view of Satterley Property Group chief executive Nigel Satterley who visited Bunbury last month to present at the Master Builders Bankwest Presidents lunch.
Focusing on strategic growth in the South West region, Mr Satterley spoke of recent changes to the marketplace.
“The South West market has had a terrific run from September 2013 to June 2014 with strong sales and good traffic through both Dalyellup and Provence,” he said.
“The 2014 financial year figures were very strong coming off post global financial crisis lows.”
A big change has been the desire to have smaller blocks with average block sizes halving in the past decade.
“In 2000 all of the home sits we developed and sold were 630 sq m or bigger,” Mr Satterley said.
“That figure is no down to only four per cent with 70 per cent of blocks 375 sq m or smaller.”
Mr Satterley also compared the differences between the Perth and South West markets.
“Vacancy rates in Perth are rising and rents are falling which is not the case in the South West,” he said.
“High rents are pushing buyers from renting to buying and home ownership is seen as an attractive option compared to local rents.”
