SEEING new mothers struggle to find time for exercise has led a Bunbury personal trainer to include babies in an innovative new fitness regime.
Jessica Males, who owns a personal training business and works in local crèches, decided to help time-poor mums work out and bond with their babies by combining her two professions.
Set to launch next month, the Bunbury Boxing and Fitness for Mums and Bubs program promises to cater for all fitness levels, including mothers in the stages of recovery post-birth.
Ms Males told business she had a number of family, friends and clients with babies who struggled to fit in their exercise because they could not find care for their children.
“In my experience I have had mums stop everything to look after their new born because everything just gets too hard,” Ms Males said.
“A new baby is not easy, but the benefits mothers get from exercise, physiologically and physically, are huge.”

Exercise classes include cardio, resistance and strength training coupled with flexibility, core stability and pelvic floor exercises.
Mothers will not be forced to run or jump and every exercise will be tailored to individual fitness.
Ms Males said including babies in the program meant mothers could bond with their children through exercise.
“Every parent has an amazing bond with their child – it also shows children that exercise is fun and a big part of life,” she said.
The program is expected to fill two classes with a maximum of 15 mothers.
Classes will take place in Queens Park on Wednesdays and the Leschenault Foreshore in Australind on Thursdays.
