AS summer approaches, one of Bunbury’s new food entrepreneurs is looking forward to a busy season.
Popular curry van Spice Journey has developed a cult-like following since it opened in 2012, encouraging owner Falgunan Nanukurup to expand his business.
Mr Nanukurup, who completed his masters in cooking in Singapore, moved his young family to the South West in 2011 and opened the Spice Journey in December 2012.
It has been a huge hit with local residents and tourists, regularly putting out more than 130 meals on weeknights from its regular locations on Ocean Drive and Estuary Drive.
Mr Nanukurup took over the Koombana Bay kiosk from former Singing Chef restaurateur John Dudley about seven months ago.
The beachside business had served gourmet burgers under the name Grill Boys, but Mr Nanukurup has rebranded it Beach House, offering burgers, fish and chips, ice creams, drinks and more.
“I’m hoping the Beach House will become very popular through the summer months, especially because the City of Bunbury has just completed upgrades to the toilet facilities,” Mr Nanukurup said.
The Spice Journey van continues to operate four days a week from Ocean Drive and Estuary Drive.
