AS the list of retail and food outlets joining the $100 million Eaton Fair expansion continues to grow, the community has been advised to make their voices heard.
The Bunbury Mail was invited on a tour through the 31,000 sq m of floor space which is being transformed into a commercial, residential and community hub.
Eaton Fair leasing manager Michael Prosser said the list of retailers who will appear in the expanded centre was growing by the day, but people power could make all the difference.
“It’s amazing that some of the larger retailers are only now starting to recognise Greater Bunbury as a strong potential market,” Mr Prosser said.
“I would suggest people could contact the head office of the retailer they really want to see at Eaton Fair to help convince them to join the centre.”
On top of the new Kmart and Coles, names have been slowly released on the Eaton Fair Facebook page, including I!Sushi, Priceline, Red Dot, Pasta Cup, Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar and Regal Nails.
While the site is still a hive of construction activity, the expansion is expected to open in November this year in time for the busy Christmas shopping season.
The centre experienced construction delays after plans were revealed in the Bunbury Mail in August 2011, but Citygate executive Geoff Prosser said the extra time had allowed for an even better “wow factor” centre which would stimulate the town’s growth and vitality.
As well as both Coles and Woolworths on one site, Eaton Fair will be home to a new Kmart which will be the first 24-hour department store in WA.
It will also offer bars, restaurants, apartments, offices and a cinema complex.
