SOCCER: The Bunbury Country Coastal under 11s soccer team has recently tasted success in both the country week tournament and the Bunbury Country Coastal Junior Soccer Association soccer carnival.
They went undefeated in both tournaments, overcoming both regional and metropolitan sides from across WA.
The team was formed after a string of trial sessions before competing in the country week championships.
Coming up against Albany in the country week final they came away with a comfortable 3-0 win.
The Bunbury carnival posed much more of a task for the boys with 16 sides travelling to compete against them, with 87 sides in total competing in the carnival.
This made it even more impressive as Bunbury’s under 11s claimed wins on the way to the final against teams like Subiaco, Perth City Joondalup, and winning the final 2-1 against the ECU.
“Some of these teams have played together for two or three years and our boys were only together for eight weeks,” Bunbury coach Tony Novello said.
“I am proud of all of the boys and the commitment they gave to the team,
“They gave their all and in my eyes they are true superstars.
Coach Novello also said the side could not have done it without the help of Darryn O’Brien.
