IT’S an idea that has been floated (pardon the pun) many times over the years but it has resurfaced on local Facebook pages.
Regardless of how you feel about sharks and their presence on the WA coastline, it’s fair to say that many Bunbury residents are keen to explore swimming options which keep them away from the ocean.
According to local Facebook page Memories of Bunbury, the salt water baths just north of the Surf Club were used for bathing in the mid 1930's.
Apparently they were only used for a couple of years before being abandoned and left to deteriorate.
The ruins can easily be seen to this day and have prompted many questions from locals and visitors alike.
A Facebook page called Get Bunbury’s Salt Baths Restored has suggested a petition to be presented to the City of Bunbury.
We want to hear from you – would you like to see the salt baths restored to their former glory? What is your vision? Would this be a good alternative to swimming in the ocean?
