EXCITEMENT is building in the lead-up to Bunbury’s second Re.Discover street art project which will return to the city in January 2015.
A launch party was held at the Rose Hotel last night, Thursday October 23, to reintroduce the concept to the community.
The innovative event, introduced for the first time by local artist Andrew Frazer earlier this year, brought the community together in a way the city had never seen before.
Mr Frazer created the concept in a bid to encourage residents and visitors to take another look at the CBD and celebrate art in a walking exhibition.
Residents flocked to the streets to watch live painting by six WA artists across three days, followed by a walk-and-talk tour of the murals and a wrap party at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.
Mr Frazer said the project had lifted Bunbury’s profile on the WA street art scene and had created a buzz among all demographics.
He hoped Re.Discover would become an annual event and the community interest would continue to build.
Renowned WA artist Stormie Mills, who is responsible for the striking piece on Parkfield Street, was the guest speaker on the night.
